Wild, naked beauty

Nevada Wilderness Project’s Wild Men of Wild Nevada 2009 calendar just came out, and let’s just say there are some very handsome men in this state who care about wilderness. The landscape surrounding them isn’t too shabby, either. The calendar features volunteers of the NWP snowshoeing up Mount Charleston, doing yoga at Gold Butte, riding a horse in Mt. Moriah Wilderness, hugging a tree in Mt. Rose Wilderness—and they’re all naked. Strategically shot photos keep full frontal views at bay, and the men featured are young twentysomethings as well as white-haired cowboys and ages in between. NWP has been publishing the $20 calendars as a fundraiser for three years. Last year, the calendars raised roughly $13,000, which the group uses for their efforts to preserve some of Nevada’s public lands as wilderness.

“The idea behind the calendar is not just to focus on the guys but also to show Nevada really is a beautiful and spectacular state,” says Mackenzie Banta of NWP.

A calendar signing is Nov. 8 at Sundance Bookstore at 2 p.m.
