Welcome to this week’s Reno News & Review.
Couple of big things: First of all, voting begins now—like, literally right now, this very second, whenever and wherever you see this—for the Best of Northern Nevada. This contest is the region’s largest, most comprehensive, most accurate, longest-running reader survey. It’s your chance to vote for your favorite people, places and things in Northern Nevada. Vote now for your favorite restaurants, favorite barber, favorite ski resort, favorite plastic surgeon, and on and on for more than 300 categories.
Go to BestOfNorthernNevada.com, and get to it.
We’re proud to present this contest every year and happy that so many local businesses display their winning plaques, some of them going back decades. Accept no substitutions, and abide no off-brand knockoffs.
The contest ends at 7 a.m. on July 27. A minimum of 10 selections must be made for a ballot to be valid. In cases where a business has more than one location in our readership area, an address must be specified.
The other big thing: Welcome to the 2017 Summer Guide! This is your guide to all the fun stuff happening around town this summer. I’m really stoked on the photos we got for this year’s guide. Props to Eric Marks for getting the shots, with assistance and guidance from our special projects editor, Jeri Chadwell-Singley, and worth-way-more-than-what-we’re-paying-her intern, Nisha Sridharan. Thanks to the crew over at Fuel Promotions for printing up that Reno Man shirt on short notice. And thanks to Serene Lusano for designing the shirt, and to Meg Larkin for laying everything out. Props to Kelley Lang for wrangling that massive listings section.
And last but not least, big thanks to my friend Scaught Bates for agreeing to be our superhero.
