Use your illusion

Club Underground transforms from a rock club to a multi-room stage as part of a performance arts happening called Vaudeville. EntertainmentGuy Productions calls it a “multi-faceted, interactive free-for-all,” which includes music, magic, fire dancing, tattoos and body piercing. A roster of local and out-of-town DJs, including EJ, Freez and Johnno, will keep the music playing all night in both rooms of the club. Magician Eli Kerr, the Millennium Dancers and Controlled Burn will present a collaborative piece called “Burning Spirits,” which mixes magic, modern dance and fire. If that doesn’t grab your interest then maybe Camanda Galactica’s unusual trick will. Promoter Tricia LaRose says it will involve “fire [coming] from [Galactica’s] hoo-hoo,” so you might want to see what that’s all about. Los Angeles hip-hop artist Mary Magdalene (pictured) will kick off the witching hour with her set at midnight. The doors open at 9 p.m. Nov. 19 at Club Underground, 555 E. Fourth St., and the event should last until the wee hours of the morning. Tickets are $8 in advance and $11 at the door, but there will be a $2 discount if you bring two can of food, which will be donated to Evelyn Mount’s Community Outreach program.
