Transformers

Michael Bay has done it again. Ruined a chance for a good, fun movie with his spastic editing and shaky camera. A good performance from Shia LaBeouf is wasted in this sporadically enjoyable but ultimately messy, overdone movie. Alien robots come to our planet in search of some sort of energy cube, and they’re determined to turn into cars and hang around with teenagers on their way to the ultimate robot smackdown. Some of the transformation effects are very cool, and the movie has many enjoyable moments. But the last quarter of the movie gets progressively worse, until it goes into full-blown moronic mode. Fans of the toys and cartoon series (I am not among them) might find enough to make this worthwhile viewing. I lost my patience with the thing and seriously hope a new director takes over the reigns for the inevitable sequel.
