Too much of a good thing

A recent article in the New York Times highlighted the downside to an abundance of farmers’ markets. With the influx of available homegrown produce, independent farmers are seeing less profit and facing more competition. While this is good for consumers looking for organic produce, it can prevent aspiring farmers from joining the mix. Luckily, Northern Nevada offers enough markets to satiate an appetite for variety without putting its farmers out of business. While Reno’s farmers’ markets are wrapping up their summer sales, some last minute treats are still to be found. Locations and dates can be found on the blog: www.newsreview.com/reno/greenwithnv.
