Third party scores again

John Lampros, who ran and won for White Pine county commissioner on a third party line, has been named county commission chair.

It’s the latest advance for the Independent American Party of Nevada (“Third party surges in small counties,” RN&R, Jan. 13), which was founded in Nevada in 1968 as the vehicle for George Wallace’s campaign that year.

Lampros began his first meeting by complaining about residents of the county gossiping about the commission.

“I’m tired of going into coffee shops and hearing what’s on the [commission’s] agenda,” he said. “I’m frankly not going to put up with it. So if you have a problem with me or any of the other four commissioners, I’d appreciate it if you come and talk to us directly.”
