They want your blood

The holidays can be a real headache. It can be even more stressful for people unfortunate enough to find themselves in the emergency room during a blood supply shortage. The United Blood Services recently issued an emergency appeal for blood donations, as the area’s supplies are running low. In response, local bands Cabezudo, Voodoo Lily and Eroded Pride (pictured) will perform a show to increase blood donations and awareness of the benefits of donating. The Black Christmas Bash will take place at Knuckleheads Bar & Grill, 405 Vine St., at 9 p.m. Dec. 20. “More people need to wake up and understand the crisis our community is in,” says Eroded Pride singer/bassist Jimmie Jones. “This is a perfect way for people to do something, not only for their friends and neighbors but also for themselves.” Admission to the 21-and-over show is $5, but the cover charge will be waived with a proof-of-donation card, which can be acquired by donating blood at United Blood Services up until the night of the show.
