There Will Be Blood

Rated 5.0

In one of the all time great performances, Daniel Day-Lewis plays fictional oil barren Daniel Plainview, a greedy man with a strange brand of love for his young adopted son H.W. (Dillon Freasier) and loads of hatred for Eli (Paul Dano), an evangelical nutcase. Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson (Magnolia), the film follows Plainview from his years as a silver prospector through his lonely days as a wealthy recluse. Every moment that Day-Lewis spends on screen is riveting, and the same goes for Dano, who is a long way from the soft-spoken character he played in Little Miss Sunshine. Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood provides an excellent soundtrack.
