The Pianist

Rated 4.0 The true story of a Jewish pianist (Adrien Brody) trying to survive in World War II Poland. Director Roman Polanski has created a film that stands among his best, and is his greatest work in decades. Brody gives a startling performance, delivering on some of the promise he showed in his earlier work. None of the film takes place in the death camps, but their existence is felt as family members and friends are shipped off in trains. Polanski concentrates on one man’s survival, a man who is stowed away in donated apartments within mere yards of Nazi officers. An incredible story.
