The other war toll

The National Priorities Project, using figures from the Congressional Budget Office, has for several years kept a running total of the cost of the Iraq war. The group also breaks the spending down into the amount paid by states and selected cities. We were wondering what the cost of the war for one day is, so we tracked the NPP figures from midnight to midnight for one day. This is how much taxpayers in the United States, in Nevada, and in Reno paid (financially only) for the war on Sept. 20:

United States: $279,759,077

Nevada: $2,506,718

Reno: $205,839
