Several thousand Nevadans who traveled 1993 miles to see UNR play Notre Dame watched as the Wolf Pack fought a losing battle against the Fighting Irish. While many Nevadans didn’t necessarily expect a win, they—and some sportswriters—expected a close game and possibly an upset. Instead, it was what the Los Angeles Times’ Chris Dufresne ungrammatically called “a thoroughly, almost shocking, 35-0 win over Nevada.”
