The Love Guru

Rated 1.0

Mike Myers does his usual shtick. He makes himself up in a goofy costume, tells jokes about dicks and then laughs at himself … over and over again. His latest attempt to start a comedy franchise has him playing the Guru Pitka, a self-help guru hired by a hockey team to get their star player out of a funk. The character grows tiresome after a promising beginning, and it quickly becomes clear that Myers has temporarily lost it. This is his first live action effort since the dreadful The Cat in the Hat, and a triumphant return it is not. Justin Timberlake and Jessica Alba have uninteresting supporting roles that waste them. There’s no sense in Myers doing new characters if they’re going to be doing the same old thing. Just make another Austin Powers movie and call it a day.
