The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

Perhaps the greatest fantasy film achievement of all time comes to a conclusion with this astonishing final chapter to the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Frodo completes his perilous journey to Mount Doom, and we the audience just stare in amazement at what has been put on screen. In many ways, the first two films were just the warm-ups for what King has in store, a tremendous piece of work on so many levels. As for acting triumphs, everyone is excellent, and it would be wrong to ignore the work of Sean Astin as Samwise, who will tear your heart out in the film’s final moments. Contains some of the greatest action set pieces and visual wonders ever put to film. Director Peter Jackson should be ducking the Oscars being chucked at him during this year’s ceremony, but only time will tell on that one.
