The Legend of Drunken Master

Jackie Chan might not be setting the world—or at least his critics—on fire with his Hollywood offerings, but this goofy movie is perhaps his all-time best. Starring as Wong, a man who becomes a great fighter when he drinks, this is sort of Arthur meets Enter the Dragon. While I didn’t follow a damn thing going on with the plot, that didn’t stop me from cracking up every time Chan stopped for a swig on a bottle during terrifically staged fight scenes. This movie is remarkably stupid but outright amazing in many ways. Chan’s physical capabilities, and the lengths he is willing to go to for a decent stunt (watch those outtakes), make him a treasure to the genre. Anita Mui is much fun as Chan’s obnoxious mother.
