The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Rated 4.0

Noomi Rapace delivers a breakthrough performance as Lisbeth, a punk computer hacker who winds up helping a journalist (Michael Nyqvist) in his attempts to solve a missing person mystery. Rapace steals the movie; she’s an actress you can’t take your eyes off of, and it’s hard to picture anybody else in this role (although David Fincher is planning an American remake with Carey Mulligan, so it could happen). The film’s mystery element is well-executed and kept me guessing until the end, with Nyqvist delivering powerful work. For those looking for a movie with brains this summer, this is an interesting diversion.
