That’s another Story
Nevadans who aren’t sure how to spell Storey County may be forgiven for thinking Dupont has selected the state for an ethanol plant in that county. Links to stories online say things like this, from an Associated Press Story: “DuPont picks Nevada in Story County as site for its next …” The completed headline, revealed only after clicking the link, continues, “… -generation ethanol plant in Iowa.” And this, from the Ames Tribune: “Dupont unveils plans for ethanol plant in Nevada.”
The Nevada, however, is Nevada, Iowa, and the county is Story, not Storey. The ethanol plant, to be constructed within 12-18 months, won’t use corn kernels, but corn cobs, stalks and leaves to create biofuel. Not that we care.
