Tears of the Sun

Rated 2.0 Bruce Willis is mighty capable as a Navy SEAL commander sent into Nigeria to extract a doctor before marauding rebels reach her camp, but the movie itself is a bit too preachy and propagandistic. Director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) tries to construct a gritty action film with a conscience, but there is something slightly creepy about the results. It’s as if current government officials were looking over his shoulders and making ominous threats as he was putting the thing together. Good Willis performance and some decent action, but the politics are a bit screwy.
