S.W.A.T.

Rated 2.0
This latest big screen update of a lousy TV show provides a lesson in how to make one of the world’s most complicated and tense vocations look dull and insipid. Colin Farrell stars as a wannabe S.W.A.T. man who is bad in the ways of love but kick-ass when it comes to shooting people. Samuel L. Jackson stars as Hondo, an old school S.W.A.T. guy, looking to assemble a ragtag group of men and women in order to mentor them in the ways of shooting people while doling out wacky one-liners. Michelle Rodriguez is also on hand as the team’s lone woman. She’s the best thing about the movie so, of course, she’s given little to no screen time. The catchy theme song from the TV show is given umpteen remixes, and listening for the variations of that well-known tune is one of the few entertaining aspects of this routine cop flick. If you’re looking for a fun action flick this summer, Bad Boys II is a better bet.
