If you like art but want something more than an afternoon of perusing exhibits, Artouring may be just the thing for you. The annual Artown event lets art admirers meet local artists who work in a variety of media, from painting to wearable art. Some of the excursions include docent tours of the exhibits at the Nevada Museum of Art. Others include cooking demonstrations. On July 8, participants will visit the studios of collage artist Polly Peacock, glassblower Linda Yaxley and ceramist Hannah Willis. On July 10, the Artouring group visits the studios of portrait/watercolor artist Patty Melton, photographer Stephanie Hogan and ceramist Lynda Vinikow. On July 15, it’s the studios of sculptors Roy Herrick, Chris Atcheson and Joe Zuccarini. Other tours are scheduled for July 16, 17, 22, 24, 26, 29, 31. The tours cost $30, except for the July 16 and July 26 tours, which cost $95 and $65 respectively. Participants need to drive to the artists’ studios for most of the tours, which usually start at 9:30 a.m. and depart from the NMA, 160 W. Liberty St. For more information on Artouring, call Toni Lowden at 826-3655 or visit www.artouring.com.
