Stay Alive

Some devout gamers get hold of an “illegal” game, have at it, then start dying deaths oddly similar to the ones they suffer in the game. Another PG-13 horror film that aspired to be an R but got revamped at the eleventh hour, this one sucks with any rating. Jon Foster and Frankie Muniz (Malcolm in the Middle) star in this embarrassing dreck that tries to capitalize on both the gaming craze and the recent success of horror films. Some of the game imagery is effectively creepy, but it’s usually ruined by one of the actors opening their mouths. The film contains some of the worst acting you’ll see on a screen in this or any year and makes the Resident Evil movies look Oscar-worthy.
