Stage pick of the week
BAC Stage Kids will present Once on This Island at 7 p.m. Jan. 18 and 25 and 2 p.m. Jan. 19-20 and 26-27 at Brewery Arts Center, 449 W. King St. in Carson City. An adaptation of Hans Christian Anderson’s The Little Mermaid (pictured), Once on This Island depicts a group of villagers who, on the night of a great storm, calm a frightened child by telling her an island legend of a peasant girl who rescues and falls in love with a boy above her class. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students, seniors and BAC members. Call 883-1976.
