Spy Kids: All the Time in the World in 4D

Director Robert Rodriguez scored a couple of good films with the first two Spy Kids movies, and he should’ve stopped after the second. Spy Kids 3 was an awful movie, and this one is right there with it in the stinker zone. Couple that with his lousy The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl 3-D, and you have definitive proof that Rodriguez totally sucks at making 3-D kid movie adventures. This one takes place after the original Spy Kids (Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara, who appear in this film) are no longer kids, necessitating a new kid duo (Rowan Blanchard and Mason Cook). They are pulled into a spy adventure when they find out their stepmother is a spy and their dog is a robot boringly voiced by Ricky Gervais. Not only are the plot and 3-D effects underwhelming, but Rodriguez supplies you, the viewer, with aroma cards, instructing you to sniff them when numbers flash on the screen. The cards don’t really smell like anything, so Rodriguez apparently thinks dog farts and candy smell like cardboard.
