‘Sprawl Mountain’ delayed

The Winnemucca Ranch development, a 26,400-resident project 30 miles north of Reno, was put on hold by the Reno City Council after council members were hit with a blizzard of questions, complaints and email messages.

A zoning vote on the project, now called Spring Mountain and referred to by opponents as Sprawl Mountain, was delayed after council members said they wanted more information on “impacts, process, time lines, infrastructure costs, traffic, schools, open space and governance,” as a city press release described it.
