At the Nevada Legislature last week, domestic abuse agency directors Sue Meuschke, right, and Joni Kaiser along with Sen. Bernice Mathews, center, faced an Assembly committee to seek funding for shelter programs. Those programs are normally funded by a portion of the marriage license fee, but marriages have declined during the recession. Abuse, unfortunately, has seen no such decline.
