Science through storytelling

Do your socks ever disappear in the wintertime? According to children’s book Snakes Wear Socks by local environmentalists Kyle and Katy Chandler-Isacksen, it might be because snakes use them to keep warm. Snakes Wear Socks tells the story of little Jeremy, who is missing a pair of his favorite socks. When he sets out to find his missing sock, Jeremy makes a curious discovery about hibernation in the winter and the life of snakes.

The Chandler-Isacksens hope to dedicate a percentage of the book’s profits toward environmental and community projects. They are available to visit classrooms or events for free. Learn more about their book at www.snakeswearsocks.info.
