Savvy do-gooders

Conscious Community has come up with a way to help raise money for The Urban Roots Farm, raise awareness about all of the good stuff people are doing in Northern Nevada, and get a whole bunch of new “likes” on its Facebook page.

Through its “Connect the Good” campaign, for every “like” Conscious Community gets on its Facebook page, Urban Roots will receive 50 cents toward their educational farm off West Fourth Street. Then participants are asked to post the campaign on their own Facebook pages and put a “Like” button on their organization’s website, at least through September, that will allow users to like the CC page without leaving the organization’s website. They’re also encouraged to brag about their own positive-doings and post announcements and events on the page, thereby connecting the good.

Donors to the campaign have also pledged up to $2,000 for Urban Roots.

A launch party for the campaign will be held Thursday, Sept. 1 at St. James Infirmary, 445 California Ave., from 7 p.m.-10 p.m.
