Republicans favor carbon capping

Most Republicans support an energy policy that increases domestic energy production and caps carbon emissions, according to a new national poll. A survey by Republicans for Environmental Protection and Bellwether Research & Consulting showed that 52 percent of Republicans, 48 percent of self-identified conservatives and 47 percent of Tea Party backers supported such a national energy policy. (Sixty-eight percent of independents and 80 percent of Democrats did.)

In a separate question, 86 percent of conservatives and 84 percent of Tea Partiers agreed that conserving natural resources and environmental stewardship were conservative values.
