Reno named a top green city

Reno shares company with Berkeley, Calif., Fort Collins, Colo., and others as one of the nation’s greenest mid-sized cities. It was among 22 municipalities singled out in Natural Resource Defense Council’s “2010 Smarter Cities” report for its “emerging green energy culture.” Among Reno’s green strides listed are a 17 percent reduction in energy use over the past five years, green retrofits, renewable energy installations and 17,200 tons of reduced annual carbon emissions.
