Reid reelected leader

U.S. Sen. Harry Reid was reelected by his fellow Democrats Tuesday as Democratic floor leader of the Senate. He issued a statement: “This year has been particularly challenging for all Americans, and with a narrow majority, passing timely legislation has at times been difficult. But I look forward to again leading my colleagues into the next session with a promise of unity and bipartisanship to deliver the results that we as a country need.”

Ensign was elected by his caucus on the same day to chair the Republican Policy Committee, the No. 4 position in the leadership. Ensign during the last two years had taken on the uncomfortable task of chairing the Senate Republican Campaign Committee, a body charged with recruiting and electing GOP senators.
