Ranson retires

Nevada is a journalism market plagued by job jumpers who arrive, put in a couple of years, then move on to a bigger market about the time they learn to pronounce Verdi and Pahranagat.

Steve Ranson was not like that. He put down roots, working for the Wells Progress, anchoring for KCRL (now KRNV) in Reno, and staying at the Lahontan Valley News for the past 30 years, the last nine as editor—along the way contributing mightily to informing Nevadans. He now retires to become president of the International Society of Weekly Newspaper Editors.
