Quantum of Solace

Rated 3.0

This one picks up where Casino Royale left off. Daniel Craig’s Bond is hell-bent on vengeance for the death of Vesper Lynd (Eva Green), and despite orders from supervisor M (Judi Dench) to chill out, he’s going on a killing spree. This Bond film is about straight-up action and little mercy. Director Marc Forster (Finding Neverland), like Martin Campbell with Royale, is shooting for something a little more realistic with this Bond. He’s pretty good with an action sequence, and Craig makes for a decent action hero. This Bond is much different from Connery or Moore Bond; he’s far angrier and more violent. Still, some of the past charms are evident in this, and it plays like an origin story of sorts. I imagine Bond will become a little more sophisticated and reserved as Craig’s body starts to age. Or, they’ll just replace him.
