Pepsi challenge gets personal
GREENevada, a local partnership of several environmental nonprofits, will receive $50,000 as part of the Pepsi Refresh Project, which gives millions of dollars monthly to people with “refreshing ideas.” After a lively online campaign for votes for the best ideas nationwide, the local group placed seventh overall. All top 10 winners will receive $50,000. GREENevada will use the money to hold a sustainability plan competition for high school students across Washoe County.
GREENevada consists of Black Rock Solar, Desert Research Institute’s Green Power program, Urban Roots Garden Classroom, Sierra Nevada Journeys, Envirolution and ACE Alliance for Climate Education.
Pepsi Refresh Project is accepting new idea submissions from now through Dec. 15, or until it receives 1,000 ideas, whichever comes first. Learn more at www.refresheverything.com.
