Park begins recovery

Firefighters clean up and look for possible hot spots at the Oxbow Park Nature Area, on the Truckee River near West Fourth Street. A fire Sunday charred about 17 acres of the 22-acre park, sending up a column of smoke that could be seen throughout the valley. Officials expect the park eventually to recover from the possibly human-caused fire, but in the short term, invasive species of plants must be guarded against, and some animals will have to find homes elsewhere.
