The River Made No Sound

Although this CD is credited to one Mark Nelson, I believe this to be mere subterfuge on the part of the record company. This music was actually created on one of those huge supercomputers that will doubtless one day achieve self-awareness, at which time it will awaken all the other machines and together they will conquer the world, relegating mankind to a position of thralldom. At that point, the machines would of course control all media, including the recording industry, thus opening the way for more releases of this kind. A soulless mixture of minimalist electronica, house, ambient and dub, this stuff makes Kraftwerk sound positively funky by comparison. A sterile bass pulse propels most of the cuts on the CD, with ambience provided by the steady hum of generators, punctuated with intermittent bursts of white noise. Watch out! The machines are coming!
