Painting the projects green

Walmart has started an eco-blog called The Green Room to facilitate discussion with consumers about sustainable habits, but environmentalists are calling the company’s bluff based on its past attempts at greenwashing, the act of marketing environmentally destructive products or resources as eco-friendly. Last November, environmental journalist Stacey Mitchell compiled an in-depth investigation debunking Walmart’s sustainable claims by revealing their history of outsourcing the manufacturing of cheaply made products to China, announcing fake green goals, and contributing to politicians and lobbyists who argue against sustainable projects.
