Old timer

There aren't many Nevada license plates like this one still on the road. This 51-year old plate on the ABL Chimney Sweep van was issued when Grant Sawyer was governor, John Kennedy was president, and the Braves were still in Milwaukee. Plates then still had raised letters and the first letter indicated the county where the vehicle was registered. And the colors were still the state colors—silver and blue. At one time the state issued new plates each year and, for a time, they alternated annually between silver backdrop/blue letters and blue backdrop/silver letters. The silver was dropped in favor of white at the behest of law enforcement, which wanted the digits in special white paint with a reflective quality.
