Nothing’s Shocking

Reno’s own punk band Shockbox performed at the summer music fiesta Warped Tour last week at the Sleeptrain Amphitheatre in Marysville, Calif. Popularized by skate-punk kingpins NOFX and Pennywise in the mid-'90s, Warped has metamorphosed into an eclectic collection of straightforward rock, punk, emo, metal and hip-hop outfits from all over the country. Shockbox played the Shira Girl stage, dedicated to female-fronted bands, and drew the biggest crowd the stage saw all day. The buzz of the day was veteran punk-rocker Billy Idol’s performance, his second with the Warped Tour. He’ll play Reno July 15 at the Reno Hilton Ampitheatre.
