On the park over the railroad trench west of Virginia Street, Hot August Nights vendors set up their stands. Crowds this week were small in both Reno and Sparks, an apparently recession related condition also affecting other special events such as the Sparks farmers’ market. On the upside, special events are more pleasant and less raucous with smaller crowds.
