No walking on eggshells

A Nevada Republican leader told the Washington Post that special treatment for women presidential candidates should be a thing of the past.

Heidi Smith, one of Nevada’s members of the Republican National Committee, made the comment in response to one from Iowa GOP official Trudy Caviness, who said Michelle Bachmann’s candidacy has people “looking at the new rules of the game and manners of the game” because it’s “new for a Republican woman to run for president.”

Smith responded, “We’re past the time of being polite to the lady.” Bachmann, she said, “is strong enough to stand up on her own.”
