Nixon lets us down again

Frost/Nixon, the Oscar-buzzed movie, is enduring rumors that it is being kept out of potentially unfriendly markets. It was released on Dec. 5, but on that date it appeared in only three theaters in the nation. A few days later, another 30-plus theaters were added. Just after Christmas, a wider release to more than 200 theaters was made, but only in the 50 largest markets. Mid-size and smaller markets have not seen the film.

Posters for the movie were placed in the Sparks and Reno downtown theaters, but the poster has since been taken down in Sparks without the movie making an appearance.

Meanwhile, another highly praised film, Milk, has appeared in only one local theater. Cinemark owns all the first run theaters in Reno and Sparks.
