Ninja Assassin
Good lord, this is one bloody movie. Within minutes, this film lets you know that blood will spout and spurt with amazing ferocity, and that no limb or body part is safe from the sword. So, as far as bloody ninja movies go, this one is sort of king. Unfortunately, the script involving a super ninja (played by Rain) and his involvement with government types is lame and confusing, making most moments that don’t involve fighting not worth watching. Rain actually has the makings of a decent action star; he just needs some better material. Director James McTeigue (V for Vendetta) stages some pretty gnarly fight scenes, but the dialogue is often unintentionally hilarious. It’s a good-looking movie that lacks brains, unless you count the ones that are constantly splattering the screen.
