Protesters rallied in Reno and Carson City to try to get U.S. Rep. Dean Heller of Nevada to change his mind and vote to override George W. Bush’s veto of children’s health care legislation. Americans United for Change, a group that formed to oppose Social Security privatization and then branched out into other issues, is running television spots on the issue in the districts of Heller and three other Republicans in Florida and Minnesota, urging them to “think again” about the issue. It’s Heller’s second experience with AUC, which ran Nevada spots in April calling on him to vote to end the war.
