Last year, the city of Reno installed diagonal sidewalks at the Second and Virginia intersection, similar to those at 11th and Victorian in Sparks. But because Reno didn’t have the light-switching equipment for such sidewalks, signs were bolted into the corner curbs telling people not to use them. This week the lights are scheduled to become operational and traffic on a four-sided red light will be halted from all four directions and pedestrians can cross to any side.
