Nevadans for orphans
The Northern Nevada International Center is trying to generate support locally to do something about the plight of Zambian AIDS orphans. The group has issued a statement: “Most of Zambia’s AIDS orphans are at the mercy of donor organizations for the slightest prospect of a brighter future, as they do not have relatives that are capable of supporting them. With an estimated 1 million orphans, Zambia could be moving towards a social disaster. This is, in fact, a silent emergency, but one which penetrates all corners of Zambian life and slowly devastates its population with catastrophic consequences.”
Trinity Episcopal Church has joined the effort financially to help with shipping goods to Zambia. Others may contact NNIC at 784-7515 or mutale.nnic@gmail.com.
