Nevada “ladies night” practices endangered

A Nevada Equal Rights Commission decision may end practices like “ladies night” at Sparky’s in Sparks, unless they are perhaps matched with “men’s nights.”

On a 3-1 vote last week, the commission ruled that the Las Vegas Athletic Club discriminated against men by offering free memberships to women. The vote upheld a recommendation by commission administrator Dennis Perea, who conducted an investigation of a complaint brought by a Las Vegas man.

The casino industry offered late objections to the decision, which did not change the ruling.
