Nevada gold headed north

Canada’s Barrick Gold Corporation has announced two new gold strikes at sites it calls Red Hill and Goldrush.

The locations near existing successful mines and similar geologies generated excitement in the mining world. Adjoining property owners Nulegacy Gold and Carlin Gold both put out news releases to identify themselves with the Barrick strikes.

Barrick estimated Red Hill to contain up to 3.5 million ounces of gold. No figure is yet available on Goldrush.

At the same time—and in spite of near record gold prices—Barrick poor-mouthed its financial situations, telling its investors to expect rising operational costs.
