Nevada EcoNet and Craig Witt, Owner/Operator of Full Circle Compost, partner up to make an “Erase Your Trace” program for Earth Day to make it a zero waste event. Kris Hansen, the Executive Director of Nevada EcoNet states, “Through Erase Your Trace we want to make sure that our event waste that can actually be considered “trash” is at a minimum. Full Circle’s composting service is a major part of making that happen.”

At the 2008 Earth Day Nevada EcoNet and Full Circle Compost carried away a large amount of food waste, paper products, and other compostables to the Full Circle composting facility in Minden, NV. At this facility the waste is processed to become soil. Last year Craig had an idea. “The whole idea is to return this soil to the park,” says Craig, “so that the park, the flowers, and the people that see them all benefit.” At the 2008 Earth Day Craig took a break from his booth and workshop presentations about worms long enough to get a soil sample from the Idlewild Park Rose Garden. After a year of composting, Craig’s idea is ready to come full-circle. Full Circle’s special touches have made last year’s waste from Earth Day into the perfect soil for the Rose Garden.

On Thursday April 15, Full Circle Compost delivered the soil to the Idlewild Park Rose Garden.
