“Who’s this? This shit is good!’ reportedly said Godfather of Punk Iggy Pop, when he heard Seattle trio The Blakes new eponymous LP. In a similar burst of praise for the band’s dirty, bluesy sound, dead-tree rag Spin suggested the secret formula for The Blakes catchy hooks might involve “Soaking the Kinks in cheap booze, [and] reigniting the Stooges’ strut” to make a high-proof brand of bathtub-brewed rock.
