The Virg, a new rock club at Harrah’s, opened last weekend. The club kicked off with John Cafferty and The Beaver Brown Band on Friday, and on Saturday, hard rocker Ronnie Montrose had the place shaking. The club’s decor is a mix of ’70s black-light posters, album covers and rock ’n’ roll photos. Harrah’s public relations manager Emily Wofford said the club was put together in about a week and is a work in progress. Cocktail waitresses wearing ’80s turquoise fishnet dreams served the crowd. The club has plenty of room for those who want be up near the stage and has dark nooks for those who want a romantic evening set to a rockin’ background. Wofford said that the club wants to bring in national acts as well as local bands. Call 788-2900 for upcoming bands and times.
