Mountain music

Gas up the jalopy and head for the TaHoedown! The bluegrass and acoustic music festival features some of the most talented fingerpickers this side of the Mississippi. The line-up includes Peter Rowan’s New Acoustic Trio featuring singer-songwriter Rowan, percussionist Jeff Hogan and multi-instrumentalist Sharon Gilchrist of Uncle Earl. Honkytonk Homeslice consists of guitarist Bill Nershi (String Cheese Incident), vocalist Jilian Nershi, fiddle player Aaron Redner and guitarist Scott Law (pictured), who will also perform a solo set. Other acts include the Drew Emmitt Band and the P’ar Duo. The festival concludes with the Super Pick, a musical jam featuring the day’s headliners. TaHoedown! begins 12:30 p.m. Aug. 20 at the Salty Gebhardt Amphitheater at Truckee River Regional Park, 10500 Brockway Road (Highway 267) in Truckee. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the gate.
